Instruction is tailoured to your skill level + niche curiosities

1:1 Mentorship is for you if:

  • You want to immerse in a totally made-for-you, on-the-land getaway

  • You have or want to start a hide tanning practice or business

  • You thrive learning solo or with a friend or partner: the 1:1 mentorship can accommodate two people working together!

GROUP HIDE CAMPS

You come to us or we travel to you

Bring hide tanning to your school, group of friends, or to your home community

Choose from 3-, 4-, and 5-day hide camp structures

A group hide camp is for you if:

  • You have a group of 8+ people excited to tan together

  • You can travel to Vancouver Island or have a venue ready

  • Your group is ready to commit, work together, and create beautiful buckskins and/or fur-on hides - that you all keep

Your hide facilitators

We are Mara and Mark. We met one hunting season in Montana when Mara was collecting hides for the year ahead and Mark was working as a game butcher. Shortly before our second hunting season together, we eloped.

Mark is now up in Canada and shares the Fern + Roe studio on Vancouver Island, making tools and custom tanned hides. We teach together for 1:1 mentorships at the studio and co-facilitate many private hide camps.
