Calx (lime) for bucking hides

Calcium hydroxide is a gentle alkaline used to ‘buck’ hides for wet-scraping the hair and/or grain away.

This is 2 cups (one pound) of Calx.

Directions:

Submerge a hide in water for 12-24 hours.

Mix the contents of your Calx bag with 2 cups water and rub onto the skin side of a hide.

Place hide back in 8-10 gallons of fresh water.

Let sit for 7-12 days to buck.
